Information
Netherlands produces about 60 million tonnes of waste each year. This is for 27 percent of the industry, for 15 percent of households and 40 percent of the construction.
Separate waste
The most people in the Netherlands separate their waste, they for example split plastic, paper, glass, organic waste and just other thing. This is very different from every country. For example poor countries separate most of the time not their waste, they just throw it on the ground. But in some countries they separate very much! We think we can also separate more waste at school. Because paper and other waste is just put together. Maybe they could make different kinds of bins, for example one for paper, one for plastic and one for organic waste. We do have environmental. We have this one week long after the second break. Then we have to walk around the school and crap all the waste that there is. Some people also have to clean the auditorium.
Recycle waste
We also want to look on our school if we can recycle some materials, for example glas or something. Also a lot of people throw papers away who were not even used. I think we could also could spare some waste by for example the cafeteria. They give napkins by everything you buy. If you buy for example a muffin, you also get a napkin. But the most people don’t even use it and just throw it away.

Interview
Robin has interview the janitors. Here down below you find the questions and the conclusion from the interview.
1. Do you often notice waste in school?
Very often. Its literally everywhere!
2. How much waste does the school produce in one month?
About six cubic meters a month.
3. How big of a problem is the rubbish in school?
Its big. Especially the rubbish on the ground, because it attracts bacteria and pests.
4. What is the current method of approaching the problem in school?
The school is cleaned every day by us and the students. The rubbish is split afterwards.
5. Do you think we can improve this method?
Improving a method like this is hard. A better solution would be that everyone cleans his own trash.
It has become clear that that rubbish in schools is hard to clean. Most of the teenagers don’t really care about the trash they throw on the floor. "Oh the janitors will just pick it up for me." A sentence I’ve heard multiple times in school. And the janitors know about this problem, but don’t know a solution to it. In fact I think there is no solution to it. The mentality most teenagers have simply can’t be changed. You just need to hope that they’ll realize at some point.

Recycle on our school
On our school we don’t really recycle or split waste. I don’t really know why we don’t do this. But I think that it is because there are too many people on the school, and that the school thinks that we won’t really do it. We could maybe do this better by for example split plastic, paper and other rubbish. We could also same something in the cafeteria by for example not giving a napkin by every food item you order. Because the most people don’t even use it and just throw it away. We do clean everything around our school. Every class has to c clean 1 week long every hour after the break the school and everything around the school.
Comparison
We compared our results to the results of the Somani school. We did quiet lot the same: we both did a interview and we both wrote a article about what waste management is. We wrote down how we could recycle more at school, and they didn’t really do that. Our school for example doesn’t really recycle things. We also made a questionnaire that the children from our class could answer. Here we could see how many children throw for example throw rubbish on the street. We put this in a graph so we can compare them to each other. The children on the other school didn’t do this. We both interview people, but they interviewed more people than we did. They also told something about their school and how many children there are in the school. We also didn’t do that, but we also don’t really think that is important for this project.
Reflection
We learned a lot of things in the project. We did an interview and we had a questionnaire. We didn’t work together, because we didn’t have a good group leader who would lead us. But the rest didn’t do much either. Merel did her best on the weebly but it didn’t work out for a couple of lessons. It isn’t very clear what Femke actually did this project. Robin did the interview but that took way to long for he actually made. I think we failed this project, because we haven’t reached anything with it. Unfortunately, because this was a project with some potential.
Conclusion
At the end of this project, we found out, that the waste management at our school is hard to make better. Some naughty children are just used to throw things on the ground and think someone else can pick it up. This isn’t the only problem at our school. We also found out that our school doesn’t split or recycle waste. This could of course be made better, because if all schools recycle, the world will be much better.
