Article Ecological Footprint
What is meant by an ecological footprint? What is the average ecological footprint in India? And in Europe?
An ecological footprint is the measurement of the human impact on the ecosystem. In other words it means how environmentally conscious we as humans are. The ecological footprint of India is way smaller than that of Europe. If we all would live in the way as we Europeans do, we would need 3 globes!!! In India there’s a growing gap between the use of resources and the amount of resources they actually have. Therefore has the ecological footprint of India doubled since 1961. India has the third largest ecological footprint in the world, after the USA and Europe. In Europe we have a big ecological footprint and we really need to decrease the use of natural resources.
What is the average ecological footprint of the families in your group?
The average ecological footprint of Mirthe is 77% and therefore pretty good and the one from Daphne is 134% and therefore pretty bad. Both the families of Daphne and Mirthe use gas to heat their homes and electricity to use devices. Both families have a car as well and do use it often. Neither the family of Daphne or Mirthe uses green energy. To say it shortly:
Both of our families can still improve their ecological footprint!!
What are the most efficient ways to reduce this footprint in a family?
