Hi there!
How are you? We are “BAM”, also known as Bo (time coordinator & groupsleader), Alec (the computer expert) and Mitchel (secretary). We all 13 years old and we are students of the Beatrix College. We are in class 2TTA1. We live in the south of the Netherlands. We are following a bilingual study which means we have to talk English almost all of the time in school. We really enjoy it! We are making this website for pGP, a subject we get thought at school where we learn things about the world and other cultures. Our group has the theme‘Ecologic companies’. This means our whole website is about companies that think of plants and animals which keep our planet alive. We think this a quite interesting theme, because we all really like the nature! We also have a main research question. Our mean research question is: ‘what measures do companies take to implement a more eco-friendly policy and to attract more customers?’ If you want to know what our answer is to this question, we suggest you to continue reading… Have fun! |

Alec PulskensHello my name is Alec and I am 13 years old. live in Tilburg in the Netherlands. I live here with my mother, my father, my sister and my dog. My hobbies are playing football, playing videogames and chilling with my friends. I usually chill and play football at the local park. I go to school at the Beatrix college in class 2TTA1, which is for me just around the corner. My favourite subjects are P.E (Physical Education), history, English and art, even though I am not so good at things like drawing. My least favourite subjects are math, German, Biology and Science. The hobbies I have are fun to me, but I can’t really do them a lot because with this education there is a lot of homework and most of it takes up a pretty big part of you free time. I would like to do something like playing the guitar but I think I don’t have enough time for that.
I hope you got to know me a little bit better, Kind Regards, Alec |
Mitchel WoutersHello everyone,
My name is Mitchel Wouters and I am 13 years old. I live in Tilburg which is in the south of The Netherlands. I live there together with my mum Jill, she is 40 years old and my dad Johan, he is 47 years old. My hobbies are playing football, play the drums and play some games with my friends when I have got some free time left. I am following a bilangual study at my school, this means that 70 percent of the lessons I get are being taught in English. My favorite subjects are Mathematics and PE. The subjects I like the least are French and German, this is not because of the teachers but I am not really good at those subjects and I think they both are difficult subjects. Thanks for reading this and I hope you have learned something about me. |
What do we expect to find?
We expect to find a lot of information about saving nature and how companies are trying to save nature by doing things like; using different, more nature friendly ways like solar power, the use of wind Mills and recycling. They also try to avoid the use of fossile fuels.
Reading research:
1. To be an ecological company qualified member, companies have to declare which ecological policies they adopt (solar and/or fotovoltaic panels, low consumption lamps and fuel, recycled materials, waste recycle, etc). and have the option to show with proof documents that they really practise these policies. Only after a serious screening they can be approved as members.
2. Businesses that look ahead and actively manage their ecological risks and opportunities can gain a strong competitive advantage.
The Ecological Footprint is being used to help corporations improve their market look-out, set strategic direction, manage performance and communicate their strengths.
By providing a common unit, the Footprint helps business to form benchmarks, set quantitative targets and evaluate alternatives for future activities. The Footprint is compatible with all scales of company operations, and provides detailed results.
Ecological Footprint analysis where regions, industrial sectors and companies will face increasing limits in resources such as energy, forest, croplands and fisheries. It also helps identify strategies that will succeed in a resource based world, including products and services that will be most needed in the future.
3. Ecological economics refers to both a transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary field of academic research that aims to address the interdependence and evolution of human economies and natural ecosystems over time and space. It is distinguished from environmental economics, which is the mainstream economic analysis of the environment, by its treatment of the economy as a subsystem of the ecosystem and its emphasis upon preserving natural capital. One survey of German economists found that ecological and environmental economics are different schools of economic thought, with ecological economists emphasizing strong sustainability and rejecting the proposition that natural capital can be substituted by human-made capital.
4. When modernizing office space, consider how you can utilize natural lighting to help illuminate the space. A brighter office will make it a friendlier and warmer atmosphere for employees. And using natural lighting will help reduce electricity costs.
5. Many businesses already do things that are eco-friendly, not necessarily because they are sensitive to green living, but simply to save money. That does not, however, diminish the value of their green efforts. The trick for businesses is to be eco-friendly without compromising profitability.
Conclusion
we have found a lot of information about eco companies. More then we expected to find. We have also learned that some companies are trying to save to world even when other companies aren't.

Tom; No, but some people from my family do have one.
Michel: i don’t have a car
Lara; Yes, my parents have one.
*Are you using any ‘green’energy?
Tom; No, we’re not interested in that.
Michel; No, but we did think about it.
Lara; Yes, we’ve got an electric car.
*Can you tell me(without looking for it on the internet) what an ecological company is?
Tom; I’ve no idea.
Michel; I've never hard of it before.
Lara; No, not really.
*Do you think the subject ‘green’ energy is important?
Tom; No, not really.
Michel; Yes, a little bit
Lara; Yes, I think it’s very important for the world.
*What do you think of ‘green' energie?
Tom; I think it’s very good.
Michel; I think it’s very good for the world.
Lara; I think it would be great for the world.
*Do you use or would you like to use green energy?
Tom:Yes! I would like sunpannels.
Michel; It depends on the price.
Lara; Yes, we are already using green energy in a lot of ways.
*What kind of transport do you use the most?
Tom; Bike.
Michel; Bike or train.
Lara; Bike and car.
*Do you think it’s good that we spend so much time on ‘green’energy?
Tom; Yes, I think it’s good to keep this subject central in our civilization.
Michel; Yes, I think it’s an important subject.
Lara; Yes, I think it’s great.
*Would you like to help with getting the world more green?
Tom; Yes, I would love that.
Michel: It depends on what I have to do.
Lara; Yes, sure.

The conclusion!
After working a very long time on this project we are finally done. Everything went a little bit different than we thought it would go…
To start with working together. We already had a smaller group than the other children. Then, Alec changed to another class and we were only with the 2 of use. We also think it is quite hard to find good information about green companies. Working with Weebly was difficult as well. In the beginning we didn’t knew how to work with it. Later, we did succeed.
We really found what we thought we would find. We got answer to all of our personal questions. We do are quite surprised about the result from the question about the solar panels. Most people think they are too expensive and we didn’t expect that. I think we already knew a lot about it before we started. Of course we know much more now.
In short, most people already use some green energy, others would like to. Almost everybody thinks it’s important to spend more time in making the world more green. We think this is very important too & we hope the world will become more green in the feature.
